O’Malley Scanlon Insurance Brokers Doochary Cycle 2015 22/Nov/2015

Over 60 cyclists took part in the O’Malley Scanlon Insurance Brokers Doochary Charity Cycle which took place last Sunday. This year the cycling event, which was organised by Four Masters Cycling Club, was raising money for the Good and New Cancer Bus which transports patients to and from Galway for cancer treatment and depends on fundraising activities to keep this service in operation.
The weather for a change was favourable after a week of rain and the forecasted overnight frost did not materialise. The cyclists set off from Aura at 9.30am and headed towards Churchill, through Glendowan towards Doochary. They then tackled the climbs on the road to Fintown before crossing Meenaroy and back to Aura Leisure Centre where the well-earned warm drinks and refreshments were awaiting the cyclists.
The fun event was successful. Andrew Barron from O’Malley Scanlon Insurance presented Lynn and Eamon McDevitt, Good and New Cancer Bus with a cheque for €750.
Four Masters CC would like to thank all the cyclists that participated on the cycle, John Curran, Michael Curran and Seamus O’Donnell who provided vehicle support, motorcycle marshal Stevie Shiels, static marshals, everyone who provided refreshments and helped out with the tea afterwards, Aura Leisure Centre which provided the premises free of charge and O’Malley Scanlon Insurance Brokers. Finally thanks to club secretary Liam Tinney who worked very hard over the last 2 months to ensure that this successful event took place.
